How to Find an Asphalt Paving Price

Asphalt (sometimes referred to as blacktop) is a popular choice for driveways and roads due to its durability and low cost of maintenance, in addition to increasing curb appeal and resale value. Choose the best Asphalt Paving Contractors Arlington.

Price estimates for asphalt paving services depend on several variables, including project scope, materials per square foot cost, and labor expenses.

Hot mix

Asphalt surfaces are an increasingly popular paving choice for roads, driveways, and parking lots. Asphalt’s durability and versatility make it suitable for use in extreme weather conditions; plus, its lower cost makes asphalt an excellent way to add value and curb appeal. Various factors will determine how much an asphalt surface costs.

First and foremost is the aggregate used to construct your asphalt surface. Different types of aggregate have differing prices that can have an effectful on overall costs associated with paving. A popular choice in high-traffic areas is base-grade asphalt – an economical mix of stone aggregates and gravel that offers excellent wear resistance over time. This solution makes sense, especially for roads that will be heavily utilized.

Another essential consideration in asphalt mix preparation is temperature. Ideally, it should be heated to an accurate temperature before being laid out on a site for best performance and long-term compaction; otherwise, heat loss too quickly could compromise stiffness and resistance to distortion.

Other variables affecting asphalt paving costs include labor and delivery expenses. Labor rates will depend on your job site location and whether or not existing pavement needs to be removed; generally, contractors charge $40-55 an hour. Delivery costs depend on the distance to an asphalt plant – for a bulk truckload delivery, this can range between $500-1,800.

Recycled

Asphalt driveway paving can be an economical and durable choice, yet it requires more maintenance than concrete does. When selecting an asphalt contractor to pave your driveway, get estimates from multiple paving contractors so that you can compare prices; materials costs depend on crude oil price fluctuations, asphalt mixture quality variance, delivery fees, and delivery fees – check with local paving companies or production plants for up-to-date costs.

Recycled asphalt millings offer the cheapest asphalt solution, reclaimed from old pavement and crushed to use as road surface or in other construction projects. Recyclers offer recycled millings at local paving companies or construction sites for an average of $10 to $20 per ton.

Porous asphalt paving is another eco-friendly choice that can be used on driveways, roads, and parking lots. This form of pavement allows water to flow through easily for improved drainage in high rainfall areas and can reduce pothole repairs significantly – costing an average of $8 to $15 per square foot to install.

The City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) is an industry leader when it comes to the use of recycled asphalt pavement (RAP). RAP can save us money on new material costs and transportation fees while simultaneously extending paving seasons and increasing repair crew efficiency. RAP also reduces emissions, fumes, and odors at asphalt plants and work sites, decreasing emissions, fumes, and smells associated with asphalt plants/resurfacing sites.

Porous

Porous asphalt pavement can be an ideal choice for driveways and parking lots in climates with frequent rainfall, as its porous nature allows water to seep through, decreasing stormwater runoff and pollution levels while preventing ice formation on roads compared with conventional pavement. Unfortunately, it’s not ideal in freeze-thaw regions as expanding ice may rupture it.

Pavement designed with an underlying stone bed provides drainage of excess water that flows through porous asphalt pavement into an infiltration layer before infiltrating gradually into the soil. This type of pavement is especially beneficial in lowering stormwater impact fees charged by local governments when parking lot water overwhelms their storm sewer systems, thus leading to stormwater impact fees being applied to them.

Permeable asphalt surfaces are susceptible to clogging, so regular maintenance must be performed using power washers or vacuum street sweepers. While not suitable as a paving option for sites near drinking water sources, permeable surfaces can help reduce pollutant transport while raising an aquifer’s water table level.

Porous asphalt should be produced at low production temperatures to protect its delicate structure since its structure is more susceptible to high temperatures than regular HMA. A sulfate-resistant binder should be mixed into it prior to rolling at temperatures that fall under its sintering temperature of 275 degrees Fahrenheit.

Stamped

Asphalt driveway paving can be an economical and long-lasting alternative to concrete, with up to two decades of use and minimal maintenance costs. Installation costs depend on the size and type of asphalt chosen – recycled material is more economical, while hot mix may cost more; specialty options like stamped, colored, and heated are pricier but provide unique looks for many projects.

A 2-inch layer of asphalt should suffice for most driveways, although you could opt for an even thicker coating of 4 inches – adding this extra thickness will strengthen and add resistance against heavy vehicles. Furthermore, sealing can protect its surface from harmful chemicals, oil, and road salts that stain or damage its pavement surface.

Asphalt stands up well against weathering and is resistant to water infiltration and sun exposure, unlike concrete, which requires constant attention from maintenance personnel to avoid cracks and weed growth. Furthermore, its repair capabilities make asphalt easier than concrete when substrate movements occur, and more flexible repair procedures mean easier resurfacing or maintenance. It requires less attention for upkeep than concrete, which requires constant attention in order to avoid cracks and weed growth.

Asphalt not only stands the test of durability and cost-effectiveness but is also environmentally friendly and more sustainable than other paving materials. Plus, installation time is significantly faster; most projects can be completed almost instantly!
