Fjallraven Keb Eco Shell Jacket Review

3

Fjallraven’s goal in creating functional yet timeless outdoor gear can be seen in its use of Eco-Shell fabric, made from recycled polyester with PFC-free impregnation.

Large chest pockets sit high enough not to interfere with a backpack hip belt or harness, and their mountaineer-oriented hood will accommodate a helmet comfortably.

Waterproof

Fjallraven employs its three-layer Eco-Shell fabric made of recycled polyester that’s easy to recycle at the end of a jacket’s lifecycle. Rated at 30K HH waterproofing and 26 Kg/m2/24h breathability, making this hardshell material among the most waterproof and breathable available today.

PFC-free waterproofing technology like GORE-TEX provides comparable waterproofing.

Fjallraven’s move towards more eco-friendly shell technologies is refreshing, although this means less durability overall. Their Keb Eco-Shell is ideal for backpacking and other technical adventures. Its sizeable helmet-compatible hood, ample chest pockets, side ventilation zips, and waist and hem cinching provide comprehensive coverage.

Breathable

The Keb Eco-Shell jacket is waterproof thanks to a three-layer shell fabric with 30K HH water resistance. The material contains recycled polyester and PFC-free DWR, providing a soft feel with some inherent stretch that enhances movement.

Material that’s tough where it needs to be and soft where needed; great handle and layers well; no crinkles or snags when moving around.

This jacket boasts a helmet-compatible hood and large ventilation zippers on either side while featuring oversized ventilation zippers to improve airflow. However, its lack of a powder skirt renders it less suitable for snowy or bitterly cold conditions. In size small, it weighs 1 pound 0.6 ounces, making it heavier than similar hardshell jackets but features thicker fabric, offering more excellent durability.

Lightweight

Fjallraven’s Eco-Shell jacket features recycled polyester in three layers for added flexibility, offering significant stretch properties that make moving comfortably while helping the jacket follow your body shape.

This jacket also comes equipped with side torso vents, which can be opened when working hard, providing an effective method for discharging sweat more efficiently than pit zips – making this jacket truly innovative in design!

The hood is also cleverly designed, comfortably fitting a climbing helmet while maintaining its shape. Two large chest pockets are large enough for Ordnance Survey maps, and its waist cinches won’t interfere with backpack hip belts or belt cinchers. Velcro adjustments make it simple to secure a climbing glove into place.

Comfortable

While the Keb Eco-Shell may not be one of the lightest jackets (weighing in at approximately one and a half pounds in women’s small size), its soft yet supportive material feels lovely against your skin, moving with you while hiking, biking, or skiing. Furthermore, there is ample ventilation thanks to a two-way adjustable hood and side vents that open with the main zipper for maximum cooling potential.

Fjallraven’s 3-Layer Eco-Shell Ripstop fabric forms the outer layer, an eco-friendly PFC-free waterproof shell material derived from recycled polyester that’s easily recyclable at the end of its life. Rated at 30K waterproofing with 26K breathability, its outer layer also features sturdy laminated zippers, which can easily be operated even while wearing gloves.

Convenient

Fjallraven has long been recognized for its impressive outdoor gear, and its Keb Eco-Shell jacket is no different. Combining technical shell technology with stylish city coat aesthetics, it makes an excellent choice for adventurous outdoor adventurers who wish to remain dry while staying mobile while looking fashionable.

This three-layer shell jacket features Eco-Shell fabric made of recycled polyester with PFC-free DWR coating to offer maximum breathability, windproofness, and waterproof protection and offset emissions from its production and transport.

This versatile jacket comes equipped with an adjustable hood that can fit any head size and is helmet compatible, drawcord and Velcro adjustments for sealing out chilly winds, side ventilation zips for improved airflow, as well as multiple pockets to store your belongings – from large chest pockets set higher so they don’t interfere with backpack hip belts to upper arm pockets for quick access when carrying a pack.
