Actor and comedic genius Robin Williams has died. The actor passed away earlier today at his home in Marin County, California at the age of 63.
A statement from the county sheriff’s office suspects the actor has died from suicide by asphyxia, and to say this comes a shock would be a huge understatement. The publicist for the actor, Mara Buxbaum, has said that Williams had been battling “severe depression” and it was well known that he had had troubles with substance abuse in the past.
A statement from the family was released by Williams wife, Susan Schnedier…
This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while he world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.
We won’t go over Robin’s massive catalog of work – because everyone in the world knows who Robin Williams is. Young or old, regardless of where you reside, Williams humor knew no bounds and he had a global reach. He was charitable, he was funny, he was an Oscar winner, a father and a husband. Thanks for making us laugh Robin, you will be sorely missed.
