NASA Spacecraft Nearing Ceres
January 20th, 2015 | by Michael Fox
The NASA Dawn spacecraft is very close to getting near Ceres, a 600-mile-wide asteroid that is found between Mars and Jupiter. Ceres is a dwarf planet that is also the largest of the asteroids in the Asteroid Belt. It is also the largest body between the sun and Pluto that a craft has not reached.
Some photos of Ceres have already been taken by Dawn. Clearer images are expected to be released very soon as Dawn gets a little closer.
The craft will be around Ceres for sixteen months to sturdy its surface. It is believed that there is plenty of ice around Ceres and that an ocean may also be on its surface.
