Hulu Getting Streaming Exclusives From FX

December 18th, 2014 | by

We’re deep in the midst of the streaming wars. There’s a large number of streaming services that either aggregate content (Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime), or are channel-based (HBO Go, CBS All Access) and every few weeks it seems that the aggregates announce content deals that give them the upper hand. So this week, we’ll be giving that award to Hulu.

Hulu has announced that it will soon become the exclusive online provider of shows from FX/FXX for those without a cable subscription. The announcement means that shows like Archer, Tyrant, The Strain are going to be exclusively shown on Hulu.

The deal will bring old and new shows, like the Louis CK/Zach Galifanakis production Baskets and the M Night Shyamalan miniseries Wayward Pines, to the online streaming service.

Not all shows, though, will immediately be marked as Hulu-exclusives, with Louie, Archer, Always Sunny, Sons of Anarchy, American Horror Story and The League, remaining on other services for the time being.
