Google to End Android Ice Cream Sandwich After Next Update
March 5th, 2015 | by Michael Fox
Google has announced that its Chrome 42 update for phones and other items running the Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system will be its last major one. Google will no longer provide support for this option beyond its standard security updates.
Android ICS, or Android 4.0 to 4.0.4, will get security updates but it has been pushed to where it is closer to being retired for good. This comes amid the development of newer versions of the Android operating system including the Jelly Bean, KitKat and Lollipop variants.
A little less than six percent of all Android devices use ICS.
