Deezer Streaming Music Buys Muve From Cricket
January 11th, 2015 | by Michael Fox
In what may be interpreted as the first real challenge to the Spotify streaming music service, the French streaming music group Deezer has bought out Muve, a streaming platform that was run by Cricket Wireless. The transaction was worth a little more than $100 million.
About two million Cricket customers subscribed to Muve and will be transferred to Deezer on January 31.
Deezer offers about 35 million songs for streaming and an assortment of streaming online radio stations. The company will be looking to target the Latino base that has been a strong supporter of Cricket services over the years.
It will cost $6 per month to get access to the Deezer platform.
