Apple CEO Donates Shares To Charity

In a sign of true philanthropy, Apple CEO Tim Cook has donated 50,000 Apple stock shares to charity. According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Apple CEO donated 50,000 shares of just over $130 per share, equivalent to around $6.5 million.
Cook previously personally donated to Project One America, an LGBT equality campaign. Apple did not disclose which charities Cook donated the shares to, though. The SEC filing notes that Cook did not simultaneously sell any shares for his benefit.
Charity has been a key part of Apple’s mission for Cook, since becoming CEO in 2011. Cook launched several programs inside and out of the company, along with pledging to give away all his money to charity over the course of the rest of his life.
